In addition, this role will drive legislation to align with Elekta’s business objectives. This role will be responsible for directing daily and long-term activities for the Corporate & Government Affairs department while protecting and promoting the interests of the Company with key legislative bodies and regulatory agencies.This role will be Elekta’s liaison to members of Congress and industry groups in order to benefit Elekta’s mission. This role will help write and review policies that support organizational goals. It will also provideSenior Management with regular reports on potential opportunities and areas for concern. If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact the hiring manager, Robert Thomas on LinkedIn.RESPONSIBILITIES -• Work with theSenior Vice President of Corporate & Government Affairs to help identify and develop Elekta’s lobbying and political action strategies on priority federal legislative and policy issues. This will include direct lobbying and grassroots outreach for integrated effective advocacy across all levels of government and within appropriate industry associations as well as leveraging independent consultants to help achieve objectives. • Work with theSenior Vice President of Corporate & Government Affairs to help develop, manage, and cultivate engagement with key U.S.and international stakeholders on critical issues which affect business value. Key stakeholders include the White House, key U.S. Government Agencies, both Houses of Congress, industry associations, NGOs, think tanks, and international institutions. • Responsible for making certain Elekta’s “voice” is heard in the public policy process. • Work with the Reimbursement and Market Access team on reimbursement initiatives and federal agency engagement to drive Elekta’s reimbursement strategy across product lines.• Develop technical expertise as needed to advocate on issues of importance to Elekta. • Help maximize the effectiveness with trade associations by making them aware of key priorities, the analytics behind them, and the imperative to support them proactively. • Assist with providing oversight of the development, implementation, and monitoring of lobbying activities and functions, including but not limited to, the following: drafting issue briefs, lobbying points on important issues, drafting letters to members of Congress and administration officials, and working with coalitions and trade associations to broaden and enhance presence and leadership.• Enhance internal communications tools such as the HP&GA newsletter and the Elekta Connect newsletter. • Support Elekta’s external communications teams by sharing relevant content for distribution through multiple channels. • Manage and drive participation in Elekta’s Political Action Committee (PAC) to include organizing the annual PAC presentations and membership solicitations, developing and managing communications to PAC members, attending events on behalf of the PAC, and support PAC board meeting and other PAC events.QUALIFICATIONS -• Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s Degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Business Marketing, Public Health, or a related field is preferred. • 5+ years of Hill experience with a focus on Health Policy. • 5+ years of private sector experience; Cancer Care industry experience is preferred. • Experience developing content for corporate communications is required. • Previous experience in communications or marketing is a plus. • Must be extremely organized and detail orientated.• Demonstrated ability to understand and present complex issues toSenior Leadership and government representatives. • Must have the ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently. • Possess political acumen and have the ability to establish bi-partisan contacts with key trade associations, stakeholders, relevant members of Congress and Congressional staff, and in the administration. • Proven record of building strong internal working relationships and have demonstrated public policy experience.• Will demonstrate energy and enthusiasm for Elekta and for the value added by government affairs. • Significant knowledge of the legislative and government relations process. • Demonstrated exposure or experience in policy development and management. • Proven ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within Elekta in all regions and in some cases with political contacts such as members of Congress and staff. • Forward-thinking and proactive on legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues.• Ability to recognize and understand political and policy trends. • First-hand knowledge of the legislative process, the workings of government and public policy, the NGO, and broader political community. • Bi-partisan and politically astute. • Demonstrated ability to initiate and drive positive change and the ability to work on solo projects and as part of a cross-functional team. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong writing, editorial and proofreading skills are required. • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite; Social enterprise and/or design experience is a plus.• Self-starter who understands constant change in business and political environments. • Demonstrated excellent time management and organizational skills.
