About the positionResponsibilities• Oversee the management of religious activities and the chaplaincy department. • Serve inmates of various faiths and administer appropriate sacraments. • Conduct rites and ceremonies for inmates aligning with your faith tradition. • Facilitate primary religious gatherings for inmates sharing your broader faith tradition. • Supervise similar provisions for inmates of different faiths. • Conduct rounds throughout the facility. • Provide spiritual and grief counseling to any inmate interested, irrespective of their spiritual or religious beliefs.Requirements• One year as a Chaplain (Commonwealth title); or• Three years of professional pastoral experience that includes one year in an institutional or specialized setting and a bachelor's degree; or• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional pastoral experience in an institutional or specialized setting. • Documentation from an officially sanctioned faith group stating authorization to conduct worship/sacred services. • Completion of the Correctional Chaplains Training Course within six months of hire.• Maintenance of credentials with an officially sanctioned faith group on an annual basis. • One unit of clinical pastoral education or equivalent specialized training. • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA. • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
