Salary : Starting rates based position role ($5,000-5,200-Clinical Instructor) ($3,500-$7,000 Theory or Clinical CourseCoordinator) ($1,750-$3,500- Co-Coordinator) ($5,000 ProjectAdvisor) ($2,000 Course Developer)DescriptionThe Clinical Instructor (bolthires) has responsibility for teachingprimarily in clinically focused courses and incorporatesevidence-based practice into teaching activities.The C I serves asa vital link between the school, the student, and the preceptor,ensuring a cohesive and enriching educational experience to ensurealignment of course objectives and program goals. The bolthires reports tothe Course Coordinator and Track Director and works closely withother faculty members and students. Position TermThe position term is a semester in duration and renewed based onthe program's needs, satisfactory clinical evaluations and on theapproval of the Track, Associate, and/or Program Director.Roles and Responsibilities• Guide, evaluate, and o versee the attainment of clinicalcompetencies for students precepted in clinical setting s. • Prepare for and actively participate in scheduled onsite andvirtual student laboratory and clinical immersion/simulations asscheduled, including orientation/faculty training for lab/clinicalsimulation, and check-ins with the clinical course coordinator(s)• Student Engagement: Conduct weekly check-ins with students inan online clinical course, using available communication throughphone or virtual communication platforms.• Establish contact with the clinical preceptor at the beginningof the semester, prior to mid-term, and at the end of the semester,and as needed. Document all interactions with students andpreceptors and ensure any issues are addressed promptly. • Review clinical hours and grade patient logs providingconstructive feedback to facilitate student learning anddevelopment on a weekly basis. • Grade student assignments in a timely manner, providingconstructive feedback to support learning. • Clinical Evaluation Tool: Ensure that the Clinical EvaluationTool (CET) is completed at midterm and end of the semester andreview findings with the student and Course C oordinator.Reportany subpar CET evaluations to the Course Coordinator. • Identify students ‘ at risk ’ for not meeting clinical courseoutcomes and collaborate to develop to assist with correctiveaction plans and remediation strategies to support student successand ensure competency attainment. All remediation strategies mustbe reviewed and discussed with the Course Coordinator/TrackDirector prior to implementation. • Review and validate student clinical hours and preceptorverification of clinical hours every two weeks.• Check official J ohns H opkins U niversity (JHU) email dailyand respond to students within 48 business hours to maintain timelyand professional communication. • Site Evaluations: Complete clinical site evaluation s eachsemester, documenting strengths and areas of improvement. • Conduct local site visits for assigned student(s), or virtualsite visits for students at a distance, if indicated. • Teaching in the online environment requires proficiency andadaptability in utilizing online platforms and digital tools.bolthires’smust be able to demonstrate the ability and flexibility toeffectively use the school’s software programs and embrace newtechnologies. The bolthires should be able to guide students andpreceptors in navigating these systems for communication,documentation, and evaluation, to ensure seamless integration ofdigital tools into the clinical learning experience. Clinical I nstructors will:• Maintain current clinical competency and knowledge of currentevidence in the literature required to effectively evaluate andsupport student performance in the clinical settings assigned.• Utilize and apply b est p ractices to create an optima llearning environment that fosters student engagement, achievementof clinical learning objectives, and supports professional growth• Stay abreast of emerging clinical trends and integrate thelatest evidence-based practices into teaching and clinicalinstruction to reinforce high standards of practice and optimizepatient care outcomes. Qualifications• Master’s degree in nursing is required ; doctoral degree innursing is preferred. • Active, unencumbered RN and APRN license, along withcertification in the specialty hiring area with a minimum of 2years of direct care experience in the advanced practice role.• P revious e xperience as a clinical educator or preceptor ispreferred. • T he role requires strong organizational skills, and excellentwritten and oral interpersonal communication skills. Candidatesmust display a high degree of professionalism and the ability tocollaborate effectively with diverse partners.
