The Computer Network Architect will design, assess, and optimize the VA’s enterprise network infrastructure to support the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. The Architect ensures scalability, security, and interoperability with Department of Defense (DoD) and other Federal systems. Computer Network ArchitectLocation: Washington, D.C., Kansas Or RemoteKey Responsibilities:• Conduct comprehensive assessments of enterprise architecture to identify structural limitations, performance bottlenecks, and scalability issues.• Design and optimize network architecture to support increased data volume, transaction rates, and user growth. • Ensure architecture integrates with VA and DoD systems using open standards and interoperability specifications. • Develop architectural views, baseline configurations, and site-specific adaptations. • Ensure compliance with VA standards, including Trusted Internet Connection (TIC), Zero Trust, IPv6, and VA Technical Reference Model (TRM). • Provide architecture documentation, configuration management, and governance support.Qualifications and Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. • 7+ years of experience in network architecture design and implementation. • Expertise in enterprise networking, cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, FIPS 140-2/3), and federal IT compliance. • Experience supporting healthcare or federal government IT systems preferred. • Experience working with Cerner (Oracle Health) electronic health record solutions and prior involvement with the VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program is strongly preferred.Deliverables:• The Architect shall deliver enterprise architecture artifacts documenting baseline, bolthires, and transition states for the VA network. • The Architect shall deliver aComprehensive Technical Implementation Plan addressing network design, interoperability, and deployment dependencies. • The Architect shall deliver a Gap Analysis Report identifying network design deficiencies and recommending remediation strategies. • The Architect shall deliver a Configuration Management Plan for database and network configuration baselines.• The Architect shall deliver an Annual Configuration Audit Report to ensure compliance with VA standards. Clearance Requirement:Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / Moderate Risk clearance.
