Job DescriptionThomson Reuters is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Copy Editing Assistant to join our content team.This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of our diverse range of editorial content, including legal, tax, and news publications. The ideal candidate possesses a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style guides, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for polished prose. Key Responsibilities• Reviewing and editing various types of content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors.• Ensuring adherence to internal style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style) and legal/industry-specific terminology. • Fact-checking and verifying information where necessary to maintain accuracy. • Collaborating with authors, editors, and subject matter experts to clarify content and suggest improvements. • Assisting with proofreading layouts and digital publications before final release. • Managing multiple editing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. • Providing constructive feedback and contributing to style guide enhancements.Required Skills• Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation. • Proficiency with major style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style). • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to editing. • Ability to work independently in a remote environment. • Proficiency in bolthires Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Basic understanding of content management systems (CMS). Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.• Experience with legal, financial, or technical content. • Familiarity with digital publishing workflows and tools. • Knowledge of SEO best practices for content. • Experience with track changes and collaborative editing software.
