Job title: Cost AccountantCompany: Primal Pet GroupJob description: SUMMARYThe role of the Cost Accountant is to assure the accuracy of Cost of Goods Sold. This position will also be responsible for setup and maintenance within Primal’s ERP to ensure data integrity. The Cost Accountant must display the ability to work within a team environment, make logical decisions and show flexibility in a fast-paced environmentESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Analyze daily manufacturing variances, work with manufacturing team to identify cause of significant variances and implement procedures to compile and report on historic variances.• Analyze purchase price variances, work with buyers to identify cause of significant variances and implement procedures to compile and report on historic variances. • Enter and maintain all Bills of Material and Items. • Develop and periodically assess labor and overhead standards. • Working closely with Inventory Accountant to analyze inventory turns and establish inventory reserves where necessary. • Team with Operations to plan, conduct and analyze results of inventory counts. • Promote and monitor best practices and the full utilization of the ERP and ensure that all business processes are accurate, sustainable, and transparent.• Drive quarterly standard costing update process. • Compile ad hoc reports required by management. • Provide support for Operations management to develop ongoing analytical tools. • Develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual data analysis and financial reporting. • Assist in the preparation of annual budget and periodic forecasts. • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process with the Controller to ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of the financial statements.• Seek out all opportunities where information can lead to additional revenue generation, cost reduction and efficiencies. • Other duties as assigned. • Punctual and regular attendance required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required, or combination of experience and education. • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cost accounting and data analysis in a fast-paced office environment preferably in food manufacturing• Familiarity with the concepts of Continuous Improvement. • Ability to multitask and work independently with precise detail and follow-up reporting. • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing• Proficient in MS Office Suite, with intermediate knowledge of Excel LANGUAGE SKILLS Good ability to read, speak and communicate in English with employees, direct supervisors, team leads and upper management.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide and understand percentages. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and quantity measurements. REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
