District 9 Legislative Aide - Policy Analyst

About the positionResponsibilities• Research, analyze, and monitor policies and legislation affecting District 9 and King County. • Work with assigned committees, identify key issues, develop policy responses, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders. • Interpret policy, track legislation, develop supporting materials, and work with central staff to draft legislation. • Prepare clear, concise written reports, memos, and correspondence. • Handle constituent casework and provide responsive, solutions-oriented service.• Serve as lead staff for at least one legislative or policy focus area. • Cultivate strong relationships with King County Executive and Legislative staff, and community partners. • Support other duties as needed to ensure the effective operations of the office, executives and organization. • Plan and coordinate internal and external events and meetingsRequirements• Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Strong understanding of local, state, and/or federal legislative processes.• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. • Proven ability to research, analyze, and synthesize policy information. • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment. • Strong organizational and multitasking skills. • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively to solve problems. • Commitment to excellent constituent service. • Ability to handle shifting priorities, frequent changes, and show grace under pressure.
