DITA Architect (W2)

Job Title: DITA ArchitectLocation: RemoteJob Description:We are seeking an experienced DITA Architect to lead the design, development, and optimization of structured authoring and publishing workflows. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in DITA XML standards, content architecture, and enterprise-scale publishing solutions, with the ability to collaborate closely with writers, developers, and business stakeholders to establish and maintain best practices for structured content. Key Responsibilities:• Define and implement DITA XML information architecture strategies across documentation sets.• Design and manage content models, DTDs, schemas, and metadata frameworks. • Lead DITA Open Toolkit (DITA-OT) customization and deployment for enterprise publishing. • Establish and optimize content reuse strategies, modularization, and taxonomy/metadata structures. • Develop and maintain publishing pipelines, transformations (XSLT, XQuery, Schematron), and integrations with CMS. • Provide guidance and training to technical writers and content teams on structured authoring best practices. • Partner with developers to integrate DITA XML with content management systems, APIs, and automated workflows.• Evaluate tools and technologies (e.g., Oxygen XML, SDL, Ixiasoft) to improve authoring and publishing processes. • Act as subject matter expert on DITA adoption, governance, and content lifecycle management. RequiredQualifications:• 7+ years of experience in DITA XML architecture, structured content, and information design. • Proven experience implementing and managing DITA-based content management solutions. • Strong knowledge of DITA Open Toolkit (DITA-OT) customization and deployment. • Expertise in XML technologies including XSLT, XPath, XQuery, Schematron, XSD/DTD.• Hands-on experience with Oxygen XML Editor (frameworks, transformations, plugins). • Familiarity with CMS platforms such as SDL, Ixiasoft, Vasont, or similar. • Strong understanding of content reuse, metadata management, and taxonomy design. • Experience collaborating with documentation teams and enterprise stakeholders. PreferredQualifications:• Experience with Java or scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, etc.) for XML workflow automation. • Knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs for CMS and publishing tool integrations.• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes. • Prior experience in a federal or large-scale enterprise content environment. • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
