This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to start a career in accounting, taxation, or financial services, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous learning.Duties• Assist in gathering and organizing client financial documents such as income statements, receipts, and expense reports for tax preparation. • Prepare preliminary tax returns under supervision, ensuring all data is accurate and complete. • Support the review of financial statements and perform basic account reconciliations using accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero. • Learn to apply fundamental tax concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).• Help identify potential deductions and credits relevant to individual or small business clients. • Maintain detailed records of all client interactions, document submissions, and completed work for regulatory compliance. • Collaborate with team members on projects involving estate planning, wills & trusts, or non-profit accounting when applicable. • Participate in ongoing training sessions to deepen understanding of tax laws such as securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and regulatory reporting standards like SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).• Support the preparation of financial reports including balance sheets and income statements, interpreting financial data to assist senior staff. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes related to account analysis, account reconciliation, and financial report writing. Skills• Basic understanding of accounting principles such as GAAP and double entry bookkeeping. • Familiarity with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms. • Knowledge of fundamental tax concepts including tax accounting practices and debits & credits.• Exposure to estate planning tools like wills & trusts or non-profit accounting is a plus. • Strong analysis skills with attention to detail for account reconciliation and financial analysis tasks. • Ability to interpret financial statements and reports accurately. • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple client files and documentation efficiently. • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and explaining basic financial concepts clearly. • Willingness to learn about securities law, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, asset management, and other advanced financial topics as part of professional growth.• Familiarity with budgeting processes and payroll procedures is advantageous. • Demonstrated interest in financial services such as investment analysis or financial planning.
