Role DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to lead the implementation and oversight of environmental permits throughout the construction phase, through to turnover to operations.This role will manage environmental consultants conducting site inspections, coordinate with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders, and ensure timely submission of reports to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). The Environmental Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, standards, and permit requirements. This position requires close collaboration with Compliance, Permitting, Legal, Design, Construction, and Operations teams, as well as regulatory agencies and third-party consultants.Key Responsibilities• Lead environmental compliance during construction phases and support transfer to operations compliance. • Conduct field inspection oversight of environmental consultants. • Review report development and team coordination throughout the project lifecycle. • Apply knowledge of environmental regulations, particularly Clean Water Act sections 402, 401, and 404. • Coordinate with subject-matter experts and permit managers to meet compliance obligations aligned with construction schedules.• Manage consultants conducting site inspections, internal reporting, AHJ notifications, and agency discussions. • Address and mitigate construction-related environmental issues such as stormwater, wetlands, threatened species, cultural resources, air quality, etc. • Assist with permit modifications in coordination with permitting teams. • Support regulatory agency, stakeholder, and community engagement. • Develop risk mitigation plans to align environmental compliance with project timelines. • Plan and execute compliance activities for pre-construction and operational handover.• Communicate environmental requirements to internal and external stakeholders. • Maintain and report project status and contribute to program development. • Conduct weekly site visits to construction campuses within the assigned region. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil or Chemical Engineering, or a related field. • Preferably based in the U.S. West Region• Demonstrated experience supporting Data Centers, large-scale or mission-critical construction projects• 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting, compliance, and approvals- including the management of impact assessments, acquisition of permits, and execution of ecological and cultural surveys.• 5+ years of project or program management experience- including coordinating permit timelines, managing consultants, and delivering results across disciplines.. • In-depth knowledge of relevant environmental programs and regulations, including but not limited to: air quality, endangered species, Clean Water Act (Sections 401/404), stormwater general permits, SPCC, and RCRA. • Familiarity with remedial investigations, site conceptual models, and site management plans. • Strong ability to interpret construction schedules, assess compliance risks, and develop mitigation strategies.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory agencies. • Self-starter with a process-driven mindset, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
