Job Summary In this critical role, you will be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product. Working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, you will play a key part in supporting carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and resolving carrier service issues. As an ocean subject matter expert, you will provide support to sales and operations teams, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, minimizing risk exposure, and enhancing service quality. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving business growth, improving competitiveness, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Key Responsibilities Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service, while supporting adherence to the preferred network Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the Managing Director, Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity Manage the annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product, promoting the ocean product and supporting sales and operations as needed Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus, and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is essential Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to both internal and external stakeholders Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with global trade lanes, carrier development, and ocean product management Knowledge of logistics and freight forwarding industry trends, challenges, and best practices Proven track record of driving business growth, improving competitiveness, and delivering exceptional customer experiences Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strategic thinking : the ability to develop and implement strategies that drive business growth and improve competitiveness Communication : excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to both internal and external stakeholders Collaboration : the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and marketing Problem-solving : strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions Leadership : strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve exceptional results Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At arenaflex, we are committed to supporting the career aspirations of our employees, providing opportunities for growth, development, and advancement.
