Family Lawyer

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Family Lawyer to join a growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of family law and demonstrate excellent skills in negotiation, legal research, and drafting. This role involves representing clients in a range of family law matters and providing clear, compassionate legal guidance throughout the process. Responsibilities • Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce proceedings, child custody disputes, parenting arrangements, and adoption matters. • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, agreements, and settlement materials with accuracy and clarity. • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while maintaining professionalism with opposing counsel and other stakeholders. • Manage and maintain accurate case files, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information. • Advise clients on their legal rights, obligations, and available options in a clear and practical manner. • Stay current with developments in family law legislation, case law, and best practices. Requirements • Juris Doctor (JD) or LL.B. from an accredited law school. • Active membership in good standing with the relevant provincial or territorial law society. • Strong legal research skills; experience using legal research platforms is an asset. • Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills. • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents. • Ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Prior experience in family law is preferred, though candidates from other practice areas with relevant skills will be considered. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
