Full-stack/Back-end Technical Staff for MIT/DARPA AI Startup - Remote Role (Senior or Staff)

Technical staff from MIT, Harvard, UPenn backgrounds in AI/ML, string theory, and condensed matter physics. SUPPORTING GROWING BUSINESSES The world of online communication, advertising, and selling is in turmoil. Large businesses make massive investments including using AI, while smaller and growing businesses, our middle class, need help to deliver true, impactful information to their customers in an online landscape that changes faster than any human team can track. To solve this problem, we have created high-speed learning AI technology that instantly learns from handfuls of data points (shopper interactions) instead of large-scale batches of data and GPUs. This enables the AI to optimise for rapidly changing interests, audiences, and market dynamics. With Google, at the National Retail Federation 2026, Product Genius recently provided results from controlled A/B tests demonstrating a 36% average revenue lift when compared to the brands’ existing websites. The test involved millions of US online shoppers including major brands and many small ones. YOUR ROLE • Collaborate to prioritize, prototype, and ship new features that directly improve our product and customer outcomes. • Contribute directly to the realtime learning engine at the core of the business. • Work on the APIs and data pipelines that link live user behavior to our self-learning systems. • Communicate and explain technical concepts, decisions, and trade-offs to others, including non-engineers. • Champion practices that safely accelerate the team, including enhanced AI coding, streamlined CI/CD, and improved QA. • Own what you ship. Dig into logs and traces, identify root causes, and improve our testing apparatus to minimize issues. • Have autonomy. At Product Genius, we don’t hand down tasks - we share context. Engineers are trusted with strategic information and the freedom to make decisions that shape the product and platform. REQUIRED • Final leveling is determined during the interview process based on scope, impact, and experience. We’re committed to being as transparent as possible throughout the process and working with you to ensure we find a mutual fit. • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production applications. • Familiarity with building agentic systems at scale. • AI/web application expertise - APIs, databases, async processing, testing, git, CI/CD, and performance optimization. • You are comfortable picking up any language. (We usually use Python, SQL, TypeScript, and React.) • You can jump into a complex code base and rapidly absorb it. You are comfortable managing multiple parallel Claude code instances. • You are collaborative at the abstract level, and self-sufficient at the code level. • Strong math or analytical background. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. DESIRED • You like testing new tools and frameworks - you’re the person who spins up a newly released prototype just to see what’s possible. • You’ve run an LLM on your local machine before just for fun. • You have exposure to containerization and orchestration tooling (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP) • Experience with ClickHouse queries and optimization COMPENSATION & BENEFITS We provide a competitive base salary plus stock options.
