AboutThis OpportunityWe are seeking aSenior Associate Legal Counsel that will be focused on providing strategic legal advice to Cascade’s leadership and business units, while owning legal support for contracting, intellectual property portfolio management, software and other product offerings, and strategic legal governance frameworks. This in-house role is designed for a seasoned attorney with deeper expertise in one or more discrete areas of law who is ready to lead, influence, and mentor colleagues.What You Will Be Doing• Strong subject-matter expertise such as commercial contracting (including system improvements), intellectual property, energy efficiency and decarbonization in the industrial, commercial, agricultural, or governmental sectors, corporate governance and compliance, employment and benefits and/or information security and privacy• Ability to simplify complex issues for leadership• Plain-language drafting and negotiation skills• Strategic decision-making and judgment under ambiguity• Leadership mindset with ability to mentor and shape department and company systems• Digital fluency and comfort with technical tools, including legal tech toolsThis is a full-time, exempt position that is open to remote.Final candidates must reside in a state we are already registered for employment. Minimal travel is anticipated for this role. QualificationsApplicants for this role are required to have:• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction• 8+ years of experience practicing law (in-house, private sector, or public sector)• Track record leading contract negotiations, anticipating risks and mitigating strategies, and advising all levels of leadership and employees in a collaborative manner• Demonstrated record of providing effective legal and business advice within area of specialized expertise for technology enabled products and/or software, intellectual property, governance, data privacy, or other specialized areas of law• Experience utilizing Microsoft 365 and other legal technology platforms to streamline workflows and ensure complianceA successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop sound strategies to identify, manage and mitigate legal and business risks• Exceptional written and oral communication skills to explain complex legal issues in clear terms• Ability to perform role independently with limited supportFor candidates whose experience may not align perfectly with all these preferred skills but can see themselves adding value in this role, we encourage you to still apply.Cascade is dedicated to building an inclusive and authentic workplace and places strong import on learning and development.
