AboutThe PositionWe are seeking an experienced Patent Lawyer with a strong background in in vitro diagnostics (IVD) and medical device regulations to support our growing intellectual property strategy.You will play a critical role in protecting our core innovations, managing global patent filings, and ensuring compliance with relevant IP and regulatory frameworks. This is a highly collaborative position, working closely with R&D, regulatory, legal, and executive leadership teams. Requirements• Licensed to practice before a patent office (e.g., USPTO or equivalent). • 5+ years of patent law experience, preferably in a medical device or life sciences company. • Proven experience with IVD technologies, diagnostics, or related biotech fields.• Strong understanding of patentability, freedom-to-operate, and regulatory-IP intersections. • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills. • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities• Develop and execute IP strategies aligned with the company’s business goals, focusing on IVD technology and medical devices. • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications in the U.S. and internationally. • Manage patent portfolios, conduct prior art searches, and analyze freedom-to-operate.• Advise internal teams on IP protection, patentability, and potential risks. • Support trademark strategy and protection where needed. • Collaborate with R&D and product teams to identify inventions and ensure timely filings. • Handle IP-related agreements (e.g., licensing, collaborations). • Monitor competitors’ IP activity and support strategic decisions on patent challenges or enforcement. • Coordinate with external patent agents or local counsel as required.
