IT Support Engineer (MSP) with Cybersecurity & GRC Experience

We are a growing Managed Services & Cybersecurity provider seeking an IT Systems Engineer / Cybersecurity & GRC Specialist to support our SMB clients with ongoing IT operations, cybersecurity management, cloud administration, vulnerability management, and governance/compliance initiatives. This is NOT a full-time position. This is a 1099 contractor role, hired as needed, with the opportunity for long-term work as our company grows. You must be willing to use our company branding for all customer-facing communication—including ticket responses, emails, and documentation—to ensure a consistent and professional client experience.ResponsibilitiesYou will support a broad range of managed services, cybersecurity services, and digital transformation initiatives, including:IT Operations & SupportProvide remote IT service desk and user support (L1–L3)Perform proactive monitoring and endpoint/workstation managementSupport Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administrationAssist with onboarding/offboarding and identity lifecycle tasksParticipate in IT asset management and procurement supportCybersecurity & Vulnerability ManagementImplement and manage endpoint protection, email security, and threat detectionPerform vulnerability management, including scanning, analysis, and remediation planningConduct security audits and risk assessments for client environmentsSupport phishing awareness training and end-user security educationHelp maintain cloud security monitoring for Microsoft 365 and Google WorkspaceAssist with web filtering, MFA assessments, and policy enforcementParticipate in incident response preparedness, continuity planning, and tabletop exercisesSupport dark web monitoring, penetration testing coordination, and threat modelingGovernance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)Draft and refine IT and cybersecurity policies (security, privacy, cloud, SaaS)Contribute to GRC consulting tasks, including compliance alignment with ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, etc.Assist with third-party vendor risk management (TPRM)Participate in audits, documentation, and control assessmentsSupport vCISO and cybersecurity leadership initiativesAssist with business risk management and vendor security evaluationsCloud, Infrastructure & Add-On ServicesSupport cloud and multi-cloud migrations, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planningAssist with server support, virtualization improvements, and network optimizationParticipate in Wi-Fi heatmap surveys, wireless deployments, and infrastructure enhancementsSupport endpoint management, MDM, and modernization initiativesContribute to automation, AI-driven analytics, predictive insights, and process optimizationAssist with app innovation, DevSecOps workflows, and digital transformation engagementsStrategic & Advisory SupportProvide guidance during Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)Support strategic planning, technology roadmapping, and leadership advisory effortsContribute to client recommendations and ongoing improvement initiativesWhat We’re Looking ForExperience supporting SMB clients or working in an MSP environment (preferred)Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and security auditsHands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, endpoint security, and cloud securityFamiliarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or SOC-related practicesExcellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skillsAbility to work independently, manage tasks proactively, and handle dynamic client needsCommitment to long-term collaboration as we scaleWhy Work With UsWe are a security-focused MSP with expanding services across IT operations, cloud, cybersecurity, and GRC.You will work directly with leadership, influence process development, and engage in impactful work across multiple industries.
