Italian to/from English – Legal Translator, Editor, Transcriber

Job Description:• Provide accurate translation, editing of documents, and/or transcription of audio files involving law enforcement and legal subject matter from Italian English. • Edit audio transcriptions that include slang and idioms. • Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong command of legal terminology in both English and the bolthires language. • Excellent written communication skills in English and the bolthires foreign language, withAdvanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign bolthires language, as assessed by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale.• Translate, edit, and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards. • Use domain-specific terminology. • Review and certify other translators’ work quality, as needed. • Highly proficient in MS Office, with the ability to mirror source document format in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Familiar with the use of CAT tools, such as Trados Studio. Requirements:• U.S. Citizenship• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience• At least 3 years of experience in legal documentation, translating, and/or editing between English and a foreign language.• At least 3 years of experience performing audio transcription with the ability to use software to enhance sound and equipment to aid in transcription. • Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the bolthires foreign language(s). • Proficient in bolthires Office. • Translators and editors must proficiently use CAT tools, such as Trados.
