EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY**PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:The '5th Quarter' program aims to provide equitable access to high-quality academic and enrichment opportunities for students across Boston, utilizing the city's resources as an extended classroom. The program is designed to offer students an enriching and engaging summer experience that fosters increased school engagement, positive social, emotional, and academic growth, stronger relationships with peers and adults, and enhanced college and career readiness.REPORTS TO: Position reports to the Senior Director of Health Services or the BPS MedicalDirector. Supports the Site Coordinator or on site Summer Program Manager.When you are hired to work at the 5th Quarter Summer Learning program, you are committing to the entire duration of the program. This means that your assignment may involve working at different sites, as staffing needs arise. Flexibility in location is an essential requirement of the position, should you be the successful candidate for this position and accept the job offer, you agree to be available for reassignment to various sites as needed throughout the program.PROGRAM SCHEDULE:Dates: July 8th-August 8th - For sites that also host ESY (Extended School Year Programs), the start date will be July 7thHours: 5 hours/day for 24 days of programmingThe in-person instructional hours for students in 5th Quarter Summer Learning Academies vary by program.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Summer Site Nurse provides skilled nursing care and management of the special needs of students as well as medication administration. Immunization surveillance and routine health screenings are conducted annually. Routine emergency care is provided for students and staff. If necessary, students are referred to their primary health care provider for an evaluation. For students with complex medical needs, the summer site nurse may act as a liaison for the school, home and outside medical facilities. The summer site nurse promotes student wellness and assists in maintaining a healthy school environment.The Nurse responsibilities include:
