Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama's Credit Union is seeking to hire an Accountant I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered. Essential Functions • Maintains various journals and account ledgers using professional accounting methods and techniques and prepares general ledger entries related to deposits, change orders, ACH totals, ATM settlements, ATM files, Credit Union Service Center, return checks and others. • Reconciles various accounts to include Corporate America, on-us checks, cashiers checks, stale-dated checks and others as assigned. • Researches any discrepancies. • Processes charge backs for debit cards and ATM cards. • Audits various accounts to verify accuracy of entries. • Follows appropriate cash handling procedures and follows all applicable state, federal and University guidelines. • Assists with the preparation of month-end entries, annual budgets and annual reports. • Gathers statistical data for use in accounting reports. • Provides back up to tellers during absences or peak times to include interacting with Credit Union members in a professional manner, conducting cash and other transactions and balancing drawer. • Regular and prompt attendance. • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. • Related duties as required.
