Accounting Director- Midtown NY

Job Title: Director of Accounting Location: Midtown Manhattan, NY ( Hybrid ) Our client islooking for an experienced Director of Accounting to oversee accounting operations, ensure U.S. GAAP compliance, and lead process improvements. Reporting to the Controller, this role manages the accounting team, financial close processes, and cross-departmental collaboration. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong technical accounting background, excellent organizational skills, and a focus on accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities ? Team Leadership: Manage daily accounting operations, mentor the team, and collaborate with leadership on financial activities. ? Financial Reporting: Oversee reconciliations and ensure timely preparation of financial and management reports. ? Close Process: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and efficiency. ? Process Improvements: Streamline workflows, enhance systems, and drive automation. ? Compliance Audits: Maintain internal controls, ensure SOX compliance, and manage audits. ? Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Legal, and Tax teams to provide accounting insights and support initiatives. Qualifications ? Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA required). ? 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership roles in mid-to-large organizations ($500M+ revenue preferred). ? Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. ? Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel. ? Proven success managing and developing high-performing teams. ? Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills. What We Offer ? Competitive salary: $175,000 - $200,000. ?
