As an adjunct faculty member, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including studio instruction in multiple music styles, ensemble directing or coaching, and academic courses. About the Lamont School of Music With approximately 300 music students, the Lamont School of Music is a highly selective program that attracts talented individuals from across the globe. As an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive music education that prepares students for successful careers in the music industry. Our faculty, recognized nationally and internationally, are accomplished musicians who tour, record, perform, publish, present scholarly work, and compose at the highest professional levels. Key Responsibilities As an adjunct faculty member, your primary responsibilities will include: Providing instruction in academic classes, ensembles, and/or applied music For faculty offering studio instruction, assisting in auditioning and recruiting students Grading student work, which encompasses assignments & exams, juries, and comprehensive assessments related to degree completion Essential Qualifications To be considered for this position, you must possess: A Master's degree in Music or equivalent professional experience For faculty offering studio instruction: ability to recruit students, teach and work effectively with diverse populations, and communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Prior teaching experience in higher education Regional, national, or international reputation in area(s) of expertise Skills and Competencies Required for Success To excel in this role, you should possess: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds Strong organizational and time management skills Flexibility and adaptability in teaching and mentoring students Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits The University of Denver is committed to the growth and development of its faculty members.
