Job Summary/Basic Function
Bay de Noc Community College is seeking qualified applicants to teach asynchronous online Spanish courses beginning fall semester. Instructors are responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree or higher (or 18 graduate level credits) in Spanish
• Experience teaching asynchronous online Spanish courses
• Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student success
• Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy
• Ability to provide diverse teaching and learning approaches to diverse student populations
• Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications
• Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use
• Willingness to learn and implement new teaching strategies as needed to enhance student success
• Commit to value, respect, and provide an equitable learning experience in an inclusive, welcoming environment; standing against discrimination or harassment to educate all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran or military status, or other protected status.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in teaching courses at the post-secondary level, preferably in a community college setting
• Experience with active and collaborative learning strategies
• Experience teaching in the Blackboard LMS
• Online teaching certification

Facilitate student learning through the following activities:
• Develop course syllabi that make clear the expectations, standards, policies, and learning objectives of the course.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments of course and program learning outcomes.
• Use evidence-based pedagogical practices focused on student learning
• Provide regular and substantive interaction and feedback to facilitate student belonging, engagement, and learning
• Recognize and respond appropriately to diverse student populations and their learning needs, including disability accommodations.
• Actively engage with students, fostering retention and success
• Recognize and respond to different student learning styles and needs.
• Develop and use supplementary learning materials, resources, and technology.
• Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
