Adult Basic Education Teacher - Long Term Substitute for Innovative Workplace ESL Instruction

About the Role As an Adult Basic Education Teacher, you will provide direct ESL instruction in a workplace setting for the Adult Learning Center of Owatonna Public Schools. Your primary goal will be to enhance the English language speaking skills of adult learners, empowering them to succeed in their personal and professional lives. This role requires a strong foundation in lesson planning, instruction, assessment, and collaboration with other staff members. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of adult learners in a workplace ESL setting Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Track student attendance and achievement, providing feedback and support as needed Collaborate with other staff members to develop curriculum and content that meets the needs of adult learners Utilize inquiry and cooperative teaching strategies to promote interactive and effective learning in both in-person and hy-flex environments Leverage digital literacy skills to integrate technology into instruction and enhance student engagement Foster a collaborative learning partnership with students, colleagues, and industry partners Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: A valid Minnesota teaching or substitute license Highly developed digital literacy skills, with the ability to effectively integrate technology into instruction Demonstrated experience using innovative strategies and approaches to drive high achievement among learners Previous experience working with adult learners in an interactive, results-oriented environment (preferred) Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to function effectively in a busy environment Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to adjust to changing circumstances and priorities Ability to work as a teacher-leader, building collaborative partnerships with students, colleagues, and industry partners Bi-lingual skills (desired) Consistent and reliable attendance, with a strong commitment to being punctual and present What We Offer As a member of our team, you will enjoy: A competitive salary based on the Master Agreement ISD 761 Opportunities for professional growth and development in a collaborative and supportive environment A dynamic and inclusive work culture that values diversity and promotes equity A chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adult learners, empowering them to achieve their goals Schedule and Work Environment This is a .2 FTE position, with a schedule of 6 hours per week for 9 weeks (October 16, 2023 - December 12, 2023).
