The Assistant Vice President, Accounting Policy and Investments leads technical research, analysis, and documentation for the investment portfolio and financial instruments. This role requires expertise in accounting research, technical writing, and U.S. GAAP and STAT, with a preference for insurance industry experience. The AVP collaborates with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to implement new accounting standards, address complex transactions, and liaise with auditors on technical accounting issues and regulatory changes. Your role and impact Here's a glimpse of your responsibilities and the meaningful impact you'll create as the AVP, Accounting Policy and Investments: Investment Accounting Research & Documentation Oversee accounting for a diverse investment portfolio, including fixed income, equities, derivatives, structured products, and alternative investments. Evaluate and advise on accounting treatment for new and complex investment opportunities, ensuring compliance with GAAP and STAT. Monitor and implement relevant accounting standards and regulations, providing strategic insights and technical guidance. Prepare detailed technical accounting documentation and communicate key findings to stakeholders, including senior management. Financial Reporting & Compliance Support accurate financial reporting and disclosure for the investment portfolio. Partner with external auditors to address accounting issues and support audits. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls for investment accounting. Leadership & Collaboration Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align accounting policies and practices. Requirements: What sets you up for success Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting Experience: 7+ years of experience in accounting research, technical writing, and investment accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP and STAT accounting principles and various investment structures. Insurance industry experience preferred. Certifications: CPA or CFA license required Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, STAT, and regulatory requirements related to investment accounting. Strong technical accounting and research skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex accounting standards. Excellent technical writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise accounting policies and documentation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
