What We Offer:
Responsible for any combination of Cancer Registry functions including, but not limited to: case finding, abstracting, follow-up, monitoring, and statistical reporting of all reportable benign and malignant neoplasms diagnosed or treated within the Novant Health Cancer Institute.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Responsible for any combination of Cancer Registry functions including, but not limited to: case finding, abstracting, follow-up, monitoring, and statistical reporting of all reportable benign and malignant neoplasms diagnosed or treated within the Novant Health Cancer Institute. 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 3-5 years of experience with ODS.
- Experience: 3-5 years with Associate. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research, required. 6-9 years with HS/GED. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research, required.
- Licensure/Certification: ODS, required.
- Additional Skills (required): - Advanced level of medical terminology
- Completion of Anatomy and Physiology
- Basic Statistics and Epidemiology
- Oncology Knowledge of the disease process, including standards of care: surgical, radiation, and systemic treatment regimes.
- Knowledge of the American College of Surgeons Program Standards. Coding Courses in ICD0-3, AJCC TNM Staging, SEER Summary Staging, Solid Tumor Rules and relevant state data collection manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy with Medical Staff, Novant Departments, private physician practices, and non-Novant facilities to obtain patient information to resolve staging or coding issues.
- Additional Skills (preferred): Experience with Electronic Registry Systems, Inc registry software and working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
