Role Description This is a full-time, Remoted online Chinese-English Bilingual College Planning Counselor role based in CA. The counselor will guide high school students and their families through the college preparation process, including academic planning, school selection, and timeline management. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising on course selection, standardized testing, and extracurricular development; supporting students with college applications and essays; and providing information on financial aid options. The role involves regular one-on-one counseling sessions, group workshops, and clear communication in both English and Chinese with students and guardians. The counselor will also maintain detailed student records, coordinate with internal team members, and stay current on college admissions trends and policies.
Qualifications
• Ability to provide comprehensive college counseling and guidance to high school students.
• Experience assisting students with college applications, including school selection, essay review, and deadline management.
• Skills in student counseling and working effectively with high school students in one-on-one and group settings.
• Knowledge of student financial aid options, scholarships, and basic funding strategies for higher education.
• Fluency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin) with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; advanced degree or professional counseling certification is a plus.
• Experience in college advising, K–12 education, or youth development programs preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple students and timelines simultaneously.
• Professional, respectful interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues and families in a multicultural environment.
