Job Overview We are in search of a seasoned and innovative Vice President, Corporate Controller to strategically lead our financial operations. This pivotal role will ensure compliance, enhance operational efficiency, and foster a culture of innovation within our financial practices. The position plays a crucial role in overseeing key corporate functions such as accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, while relentlessly pursuing process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will primarily operate from our corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, with relocation assistance available as necessary. Key Responsibilities Lead all corporate accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities, ensuring strict adherence to GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee the preparation and meticulous analysis of consolidated financial statements, guaranteeing accuracy and timely delivery. Provide regular updates to senior leadership and the Audit Committee regarding financial performance, associated risks, and potential opportunities. Champion process enhancements to elevate operational efficiency and reporting capabilities. Direct government accounting activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., DCAA, DCMA). Manage DFARS accounting and property systems, including establishing robust internal controls, policies, and procedures. Act as the primary liaison for external audits, ensuring thorough and timely audit preparation. Stay abreast of emerging trends in accounting and government contracting, driving compliance and innovative practices. Oversee shared services functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, project setup, and expense management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Manage the operational budget for the Controller's Office, involving forecasting and financial planning. Collaborate with the CFO on strategic initiatives including system implementations, business transformations, and comprehensive financial planning. Engage with internal teams, external stakeholders, and the Board of Directors to align financial strategies with organizational objectives. Required Skills Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, and regulatory compliance. Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively across all organizational levels. Proven ability to lead with agility, purpose, and determination. Demonstrated ethics and integrity in decision-making processes. Capacity to foster innovation and collaboration within teams. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and an active CPA license or MBA. A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial systems, and business, encompassing both public and corporate accounting roles. Preferred: Experience in government contracting, along with familiarity with DFARS and relevant regulations.
