Commonwealth of PA is seeking an Engineering Technician for the Department of Transportation, District 3. This role includes a comprehensive 12-month training program to equip candidates with essential skills in engineering disciplines such as design, construction, and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support to different units within PennDOT
- Participate in a structured training program that includes rotational assignments across various engineering districts
- Engage in technical drafting tasks, which will involve producing highway plans derived from field survey data
- Designing minor highway projects from the initial engineering phase through to the final plan
- Completing minor design assignments under the supervision of a civil engineer, highway designer, or highway drafter designer
- Utilize Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the execution of responsibilities
Skills
- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
- You must meet the PA residency requirement
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports
