About the Role
The FedEx Data Entry Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of freight data. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to freight handling, data entry, and customer service. This is a remote-based position that requires a strong and diverse skillset, including basic math skills, written and verbal communication, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Verify documentation matches freight description, using current electronic or manual systems.
- Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, such as pallets, straps, and rope.
- Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
- Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
- Perform hostling duties if required.
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred.
- If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience is preferred.
- Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout the shift.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Previous dock/warehouse experience.
- Experience with data entry software and systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
