About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team on a remote basis. As a Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Southwest Airlines' network infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team, develop your expertise, and drive the future of Southwest Airlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute new network implementations, as well as improve the efficiency of existing networks
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software
- Procure network hardware and manage subcontractors associated with network installation
- Design routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
- Recommend changes to improve network designs and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
- Provide technical support to junior staff and guidance on network-related issues
- May perform other work-related tasks as directed by management
Essential Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or equivalent formal training
- Intermediate-level knowledge and experience in:
- Network engineering
- Network hardware/platforms (Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS)
- Communication protocols (TCP/IP) and routing protocols
- WAN networking
- Network analytic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark)
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex network issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a data center environment
- Background in network security and compliance
