CastleGate Forwarding (CGF) is an exciting, fast-growing digital freight forwarder within Wayfair, moving containers globally to Wayfair’s shelves and beyond. As the EU Freight Operations Manager you will have a varied role, leading a team responsible for optimising inbound freight operations and procurement execution. You will oversee carrier relationships, negotiate contracts, improve operational efficiencies, and drive cost savings while ensuring high service levels. With an approach embedded in ensuring improved efficiencies, costs and exemplary service, you will develop strategies and initiatives to drive operational success. Oversee & Partner with Procurement on the end to end procurement process, defining and executing carrier strategies and developing long-term trusted relationships with a focus on staying ahead of market trends, driving continuous improvements and innovative logistics solutions for inbound freight. Collaborate with our Technology and Business Intelligence teams you’ll leverage data, automate processes and utilise robust reporting tools to allow you to standardise processes, streamline workflows, and where necessary make quick changes to ensure that we retain our competitive position. What you’ll need: Demonstrable experience in logistics, supply chain, procurement, or operations management, with a track record of driving results. Experience managing, developing and coaching a high performing team. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills, with expertise in contract negotiations and rate benchmarking. Proven analytical and data-driven skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies (SQL/GBQ knowledge is a plus). Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a structured approach to tackling operational challenges. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives. Experience working effectively with a global team Knowledge of freight forwarding, drayage, or ocean carrier management is a significant advantage for this role.
