We are now seeking an experienced and passionate Adjunct Faculty - Humanities instructor to join our team and contribute to the academic success of our students. Job Overview We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual to teach Introduction to the Humanities and other related courses on campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing onsite classroom instruction, developing and implementing effective course materials, and assessing student learning outcomes. As an adjunct instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic experience of our students and helping them achieve their educational goals. Key Responsibilities Teach 3-9 contact hours per week via online, hybrid, or traditional models, as determined by the department Develop and distribute effective course syllabi, following college policies and incorporating required elements of the course master Provide guidance and support to students, including office hours and timely feedback on assignments Participate in department meetings, professional development activities, and college-wide initiatives to promote student learning and success Assess student learning outcomes and provide regular feedback to students on their progress Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and curricula Essential Qualifications To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess the following qualifications: Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Humanities or a related field (e.g., American Studies, Art History, Classics, English Literature, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, Liberal Arts, Music, Philosophy, Religion/Theology, Theater, or Western/Eastern/World Civilizations) Minimum of 18 graduate credits in an additional field drawn from the above disciplines Experience teaching Humanities at the college or university level, with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Ph.D. in Humanities or a related field Experience teaching online or hybrid courses, with a strong understanding of online learning pedagogies and LMS management Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies and technologies, such as flipped classrooms, gamification, and multimedia resources Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups and students with disabilities Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you must possess the following skills and competencies: Strong knowledge of Humanities and related disciplines, with the ability to teach a range of courses Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to engage students and promote academic success Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community engagement Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As an Adjunct Faculty - Humanities instructor at Henry Ford College, you will have access to a range of career growth opportunities and learning benefits, including: Professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance your teaching skills and knowledge Opportunities to participate in curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation Collaboration with colleagues from diverse disciplines to develop innovative teaching strategies and curricula Access to state-of-the-art technology and resources to support your teaching and research Opportunities to engage with the local community and promote the college's mission and values Work Environment and Company Culture Henry Ford College is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
