About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Howell, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher, you will have the flexibility to choose your own schedule, working on a day-to-day or long-term basis, depending on your preferences. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality lessons to students, following the teacher's plans and instructions Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student engagement and participation Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff Be flexible and adaptable, able to work in a variety of school settings and with different age groups Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents, providing feedback and updates on student progress Participate in professional development opportunities, to enhance your skills and knowledge Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor A NJ Substitute Credential A background check and TB risk assessment (we will cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable: Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related field A degree in Education or a related field Specialized training or certifications, such as special education or English language learner support Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with special needs Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges Emotional intelligence and empathy, with a ability to understand and support students' needs Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Career Growth Opportunities At Scoot Education, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our Substitute Teachers.
