Job Overview We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Professor in Creative Writing with a specialization in creative nonfiction to join our faculty in the English Department. This tenure-track position offers a unique opportunity to teach, research, and contribute to the vibrant literary community at FAU. The successful candidate will have a strong background in creative nonfiction, with additional specializations in poetry and publishing/editing welcome. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate workshops, supervising MFA thesis projects, and participating in departmental and university-wide initiatives. Key Responsibilities Teach graduate and undergraduate workshops in creative writing, with a focus on nonfiction Supervise MFA thesis projects and provide academic advising to students Contribute to the development of the creative writing program, including curriculum design and assessment Engage in research and scholarly activities, including publishing and presenting creative work Participate in departmental and university-wide service, including committee work and community outreach Collaborate with interdisciplinary programs, such as Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and the Center for Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this position, you must have: A MFA or PhD in creative writing at the time of appointment Distinguished publications in creative nonfiction Experience teaching creative nonfiction, especially at the university level (preferred) A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and beyond Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Essential Skills and Competencies Strong writing and teaching skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities Strong research and scholarly skills, with the ability to publish and present creative work Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to departmental and university-wide initiatives Career Growth and Learning Opportunities At FAU, we are committed to supporting the professional development and growth of our faculty.
