About the Role of a Barre Instructor As a Barre Instructor at Life Time, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of group fitness classes, including our signature LifeBarre program. This full-body workout combines classic ballet moves with Pilates and traditional conditioning exercises to provide a fun and challenging experience for our members. You will be responsible for creating a positive and supportive environment, educating participants on proper form and technique, and promoting our programs and services to encourage continued class attendance. Key Responsibilities Teach a variety of group fitness classes, including LifeBarre, Barbell Strength, Warrior Sculpt, Xtreme, Strike, Kettlebell Kombine, and Gluteus Maxout Develop positive relationships with class participants and provide guidance on correct form and alternative moves Clean and organize studio space after each class and ensure a safe and welcoming environment Promote Life Time Fitness promotions, programs, products, and services to encourage participation and membership sales Provide current and motivating music for each class and ensure appropriate language and content Attend meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on new programs and industry developments Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications: High School Diploma or GED 1 or more years of fitness instructor work experience CPR/AED Certification Minimum of one of the following Group Exercise Certifications: National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council of Exercise (ACE), American Fitness Aerobic Association (AFAA), Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of a class, which may include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, running, crawling, and kneeling Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds Ability to perform exercises specific to the assigned class Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience teaching Barre or other group fitness classes Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations Basic computer skills and familiarity with software applications Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Communication skills : ability to clearly and effectively communicate with class participants, colleagues, and management Leadership skills : ability to motivate and inspire class participants to achieve their fitness goals Organizational skills : ability to plan and organize classes, including music, equipment, and materials Time management skills : ability to manage time effectively to ensure classes start and end on schedule Adaptability : ability to adapt to changing situations, including last-minute class cancellations or substitutions Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Life Time, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
