About the Data Platform Team
The Data Platform team is the backbone of Netflix's data-driven decision-making process. We're responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that enables our various business functions to make informed decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain large-scale distributed systems that can handle the demands of Netflix's global streaming service
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements, ensuring that our data platform meets the needs of our stakeholders
- Develop and implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available distributed systems that can handle the complexities of our data pipeline
- Work closely with our open-source communities to shape the direction of our projects and contribute to the development of new technologies
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring that our codebase is maintainable, efficient, and follows best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, working closely with our engineering teams to identify and fix problems
Essential Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems, with a strong background in software engineering and computer science
- Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages, with a strong understanding of multi-threading and concurrency
- Experience with designing and developing RESTful web services, with a strong understanding of API design principles
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, including scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a strong academic record
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, including AWS or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of data processing frameworks, such as Apache Spark or Apache Flink
- Familiarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience with agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban
- Strong understanding of data modeling and data governance principles
