Job Overview: Elementary School Lead Teacher - Special Education Co-Teacher As an Elementary School Lead Teacher - Special Education Co-Teacher at Brilla, you will be responsible for creating a classroom community that inspires students to reach their full potential. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to design and deliver instruction that is both academically excellent and character-rich. This is a hybrid role that offers flexibility, with opportunities to work from both our remote office and home. Core Competencies & Responsibilities Set the Standard: Provide academic, character, and cultural formation for students in a classroom setting that is inviting, effective, and growth-oriented. Direct the academic growth and development of students in alignment with Brilla's ambitious growth standards. Engage students using an inductive, inquiry-driven, collaborative, and rigorous curriculum. Nurture a love of learning in students, demonstrated by a sense of wonder, spirit of inquiry, depth of insight, perseverance, and joy. Honor the Team: Visibly model the Brilla mission through professional dress, demonstration of core virtues, and execution of professional norms. Develop meaningful relationships with students and families to inspire academic success. Forge productive, collaborative working relationships with colleagues, parents, and community members. Contribute to a disciplined, dignified, and joyful classroom and school culture. Make it Count: Establish and communicate standards- and content-based objectives and regularly evaluate student progress towards mastery. Reflect on and analyze student academic and character achievement to inform instruction. Implement individualized learning technology programs and maintain accurate student records. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse backgrounds. Know It Starts with Them: Provide a model of courage, justice, wisdom, and self-control, while championing a positive and solution-based approach to challenges. Reflect on individual strengths and areas for growth, maintaining a commitment to continuous professional growth. Give professional feedback to supervisors and colleagues on matters related to curriculum, instruction, and school culture. Deepen content mastery of Classical education by reading Classical texts and exploring elements of Classical pedagogy. Qualifications & Requirements To be successful as an Elementary School Lead Teacher - Special Education Co-Teacher at Brilla, you will need: A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution. Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Possession of current teaching certification as an elementary school teacher (preferred). Relevant urban, elementary teaching experience with demonstrated student results (preferred). Special Education credential and experience (highly desirable). Spanish language proficiency (preferred).
