We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team, responsible for managing bookkeeping capabilities related to sales and use tax assessment and permit compliance processes. This is a full-time, remote position offering a competitive salary of $30-$35 per hour, with the opportunity to work from anywhere in the USA.
Job Summary
This position is accountable for participating in the monthly accounting close cycle, preparing recurring monthly journal entries, and coordinating general ledger account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of general ledger data analysis and the ability to create monthly data files that accommodate the general ledger for the company's co-source charge compliance provider. No prior sales tax experience is required, but the ability to work in a team environment and adhere to deadlines is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plans and examines pay and financial account statements, consolidated statements, and other accounting statements and reports.
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting orders assigned to different accounts.
- Applies sound accounting principles and creates or suggests accounting procedures and policies.
- Trains or assigns work to accountants, accounting clerks, and other partners to participate in daily accounting activities.
- Coordinates accounting matters with different departments, regions, and divisions.
- Participates in financial reporting.
Direct Supervisor and Direct Reports
This position typically reports to a Senior Manager. There are no direct reports associated with this role.
Travel Requirements
Regularly requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position, with a regular opportunity to move about. Occasionally, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions
Located in a comfortable indoor area, with any unpleasant conditions being rare and not objectionable. Models include phone operator and document agent.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be eighteen years old or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Proficient high-level knowledge and expertise using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with general ledger software like SAP or comparable software.
- Demonstrates relational skills and works well in a team environment.
- Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Minimum Education
The knowledge, skills, and abilities are normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Minimum Years of Work Experience
2 years of relevant work experience required.
