Job Summary and Responsibilities
In this critical role, you will be responsible for:
- Directing center GL accounting teams, covering balance sheet, opex, and global accounting, and developing opportunities for colleagues' growth and advancement.
- Taking ownership of planning, audit, and accuracy of all financial, regulatory, and investor reporting.
- Supporting new and existing research and products by working cross-functionally to manage risk and build and maintain agile accounting processes.
- Identifying opportunities for automation of manual processes and leading system implementations to streamline accounting and reporting processes.
- Managing key vendor relationships with auditors, outsourced accountants, technical accounting advisory, and strategic partners.
- Collaborating with the broader OpenAI Finance team to analyze financial performance, provide recommendations to senior leadership for improvement, and support key decision-making.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of progressive experience in senior accounting leadership positions at a mix of public companies, late-stage startups, and/or public accounting firms.
- A CPA or CA with a deep understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements for different types of legal entities.
- Strong project management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and lead high-priority initiatives on concurrent timelines.
- Model relational, verbal, and written communication skills, as demonstrated by the ability to convey complex concepts across various audiences.
- Experience working with modern software and systems, especially NetSuite and Zip.
- Strong analytical skills, including working knowledge of SQL and data analysis tools.
