Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Performance Engineer to join our Performance Engineering team. As a Lead Performance Engineer, you will play a critical role in leading performance testing and analysis of critical services, troubleshooting performance issues with Cloud services and applications, and recommending accurate Cloud scaling parameters for services in Load and Production environments. You will work closely with various business engineering and production teams to review requirements, develop performance testing estimates and test plans, and provide exceptional customer quality support that embodies the Disney spirit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead performance testing projects in close partnership with business partners, prioritizing work, building solid plans, and completing tasks on time to support project launch dates
- Review complex architecture diagrams and application user documentation to build estimates for the amount of work and create testing plans
- Craft breakdowns of project tasks to meet project objectives and communicate project status to project managers, directors, or above
- Manage capacity and scaling of cloud services to meet demands during launches and ensure seamless performance
- Guide and instruct other performance engineers on creating breakdowns of tasks and completing tasks on time
- Share knowledge, experiences, and successes with the team to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
- Represent our organization in incidents involving other business units and communicate clearly in high-pressure situations to all levels of stakeholders
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 7 years of related work experience in performance engineering, with a strong background in cloud infrastructure, performance testing, and analysis
- Excellent communication and relationship skills, with the ability to articulate sophisticated technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff
- Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in performance testing complex service architectures, including related services, caches, and databases
- Technical hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, including public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Expertise in performance engineering fundamentals, JMeter scripting, code profiling, and APM tools, including Cloudwatch, AppDynamics, Splunk, and Grafana
- Experience with test data management, chaos testing, and agile project management
- Intermediate knowledge of Java fundamentals, database fundamentals, and caching technologies, including Redis
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of cloud security and compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Certifications in cloud computing, performance engineering, or related fields

- A salary range of $138,900.00-$186,200.00 per year, depending on experience and location
