Job Overview and Responsibilities As a Mathnasium Math Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping students gain confidence in their math skills, develop problem-solving strategies, and cultivate a positive attitude towards mathematics. Your primary responsibilities will include: Teaching students in grades K-12 using our customized learning plans, tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student Assisting students with homework completion, providing guidance and support to ensure they understand and can apply mathematical concepts Delivering math instruction in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, using a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to cater to different learning styles Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement effective lesson plans, sharing best practices and expertise to drive student success Participating in ongoing training and professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest math curriculum and instructional methods Maintaining accurate records of student progress, communicating with parents and guardians to ensure they are informed and involved in their child's education Essential Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills: Math proficiency up to Algebra, with a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and principles Exceptional score on Mathnasium's Math Literacy exam, demonstrating a deep understanding of math concepts from 2nd grade and up Availability for at least 2 weekday shifts, with a minimum of 3-4 hours per shift, to accommodate our afterschool learning program Clear record on a state and national background check, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: Proficiency in math up to Geometry and Calculus, with a strong understanding of advanced mathematical concepts and principles Experience working with students in grades K-12, with a proven track record of driving academic success and personal growth Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Familiarity with math curriculum and instructional methods, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and growth Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Mathnasium, we are committed to the growth and development of our instructors, providing opportunities for professional development, training, and advancement.
