As a Mechanical Plan Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing cutting-edge, high-performance heating and cooling components and systems for Tesla's electric vehicles. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and packaging of air conditioning parts to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability, and usability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Manufacturing, Approval, and Purchasing, as well as external suppliers to design exceptional vehicles. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that Tesla's vehicles meet all motor vehicle safety standards governing air conditioning operation.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. You should have exceptional design, packaging, and 3D modeling skills, with experience in CATIA or similar software. A passion for electric vehicles and energy efficiency is essential, as well as the ability to address novel and challenging design problems with tight timing constraints.
