About the Role We are looking for a talented and dedicated Narrative Design Lead to direct the story, character development, and world-building for our new game IP. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating a rich, immersive, and engaging narrative that draws players in and keeps them invested in the game world. You will work closely with our Art and Design teams to develop the settings, characters, player dreams, themes, and multi-season story arcs that bring our game to life. Key Responsibilities Own the process of building a new IP, including working with Art and Design leadership to develop the settings, characters, player dreams, themes, and multi-season story arcs within that world Own all writing for the project at a shippable quality, including identifying publication needs across different platforms, such as in-game dialogue, written descriptions, cinematics, locations, characters, abilities, credits, equipment descriptions, and more Leverage a deep understanding of both narrative and game design needs to weave the IP, world, and story into a cohesive whole Collaborate with the game design team to design narrative systems for the project's in-game experiences that engage the player and deliver on character, enemy, and teamplay fantasies Integrate narrative into the project's meta-game experiences to deeply reward player attention, time, and effort Advance a diverse and inclusive culture within our team, and let this ethos guide the stories we tell and the worlds we create Own communication around the IP, including creating and refining key artifacts that help convey our vision to colleagues, partners, and stakeholders Participate actively in team playtesting and provide feedback to ensure the game meets our high standards The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Narrative Design Lead with a passion for storytelling and game design. The ideal candidate will have: Significant experience in game narrative direction, across multiple IPs or potential projects Experience managing and directing writers and other creative team members Proven ability to build relationships with internal departments and external agencies Experience working with localization to provide stories for different cultures and languages Experience working directly in-game tools to deliver text A deep understanding of narrative design theory and best practices, particularly as it relates to IP world-building Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak with authenticity, intention, and curiosity Ability to thrive as a member of a cross-functional, multidisciplinary team Experience working in a remote team environment and collaborating with team members across different time zones A passion for playing a wide range of games across different genres A willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a growth mindset and a desire to contribute to the team's success What We Offer At Netflix, we offer a competitive salary range of $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience.
