About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Regional Associate Medical Director to play a key role in shaping the future of our veterinary practice. As a member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for assisting in the development, organization, and implementation of our national veterinary medical practice system. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Regional Medical Director (RMD) in identifying regional hospital medical needs and developing strategies to address them
- Collaborate with field directors and operations to ensure proper staffing ratios in hospitals and optimize patient care
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring of associate and lead veterinarians, and provide guidance and support to help them succeed in their roles
- Continually monitor and evaluate individual veterinarian medical performance, providing feedback and coaching to help them improve their skills and knowledge
- Refine training methods and lead recurrent training classes in teaching hospitals and workshops, ensuring that our team members have the skills and knowledge they need to provide exceptional patient care
- Work closely with the Learning and Development team to provide feedback on medical knowledge, skillset, and needed CE content for veterinarians and paraprofessional staff
- Serve as a medical and cultural leader for those working in the hospitals in your assigned region, promoting a culture of excellence and compassion
- Travel to hospitals within your region on a weekly basis to develop rapport, monitor hospital operations, and ensure adherence to our Standard of Care
- Interact with and engage in the fostering of interpersonal professional relationships with Lead DVMs, serving as their direct source of help and support
- Mentor lead doctors regarding the improvement of individual and hospital performance, focusing on client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, and efficiency
- Mentor associate doctors regarding the improvement of medical skills and knowledge, bedside manners, and development of leadership qualities
- Create tangible performance goals and growth targets for associate and lead doctors, helping them to achieve their full potential
- Collaborate with field operations to understand and report on financial and other key operational metrics, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. You should be a licensed veterinarian with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting, and a proven track record of success in a leadership role. You should also have a strong understanding of veterinary practice management, including financial management, operational management, and staff development.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, we prefer candidates who have experience in a multi-hospital setting, and who have a strong background in veterinary medicine, including a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent. You should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with our team members, clients, and partners.
