We are now seeking experienced and dedicated security professionals to join our team as part of our Security Guard Talent Pool in Mount Vernon, Washington. Job Summary The Security Guard position at Skagit Valley College is responsible for providing security services to the college community, maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. As a member of our Security Guard Talent Pool, you will have the opportunity to work on an as-needed basis, with varying hours and schedules, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Your primary duties will include patrolling and inspecting assigned areas, responding to alarms, providing assistance to visitors and guests, and maintaining a daily log book of shift and patrol activities. Key Responsibilities: PATROL AND INSPECT assigned areas of buildings and grounds, on foot or using college vehicles and bicycles, to maintain security and prevent fire, theft, illegal entry, property damage, or unauthorized use of buildings. RESPOND TO ALL ALARMS, including security and fire alarms, and take necessary actions to ensure the safety and security of the college community. PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO VISITORS AND GUESTS, including directions, information, and support, to ensure a positive and welcoming experience on campus. MAINTAIN A DAILY LOG BOOK of shift and patrol activities, including incidents, accidents, and other notable events, to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting. ISSUE CITATIONS FOR VIOLATION OF COLLEGE PARKING REGULATIONS and redirect traffic in parking lots as requested. EXAMINE AND LOCK DOORS AND WINDOWS OF BUILDINGS, activate security alarm systems, and report needed repairs and safety hazards to appropriate personnel. PERFORM FIRST AID AND OTHER EMERGENCY RESPONSES as needed, to ensure the health and well-being of the college community. Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, GED, OR EQUIVALENT, with a strong foundation in communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills. PHYSICAL ABILITY TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE POSITION, including lifting 25 pounds or less, walking and standing for long periods, and turning keys repetitively. EXCELLENT WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse populations, including students, staff, and visitors. ABILITY TO WORK WITH DIVERSE POPULATIONS, including students, staff, and visitors from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
