Day-to-Day Life as a Senior Data Scientist
As a Senior Data Scientist at Indeed, you will be part of the Core AI group, a research and development team that collaborates with partners across the organization. You will work on "big picture" issues with strategic initiatives, aiming to deliver transformative, long-term value. Your primary focus will be on developing machine learning models to improve job matching and relevance. You will prepare datasets, train and optimize models, and maintain and enhance model inference services. You will also research and apply new techniques from open-source applications and research publications, creatively adapting models to solve business problems across Indeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop machine learning models from prototype to production, focusing on ranking science and job matching
- Implement best practices for evaluation, monitoring, and MLOps to ensure model reliability and scalability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the organization on model inference and product applications
- Participate in code review and process innovation for software engineers and data scientists on the team, and report your work
- Balance technical and product thinking, demonstrating ownership for team goals and Indeed's mission to help people get jobs
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (such as Computer Science, Math, physical sciences, social sciences, or related fields)
- 2+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer, Data Scientist, or Machine Learning Engineer
- Significant domain expertise with training, fine-tuning, and evaluating large models
- Knowledge and hands-on experience working with Deep Learning Libraries (such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Huggingface, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Knowledge of recommendation systems, specifically ranking algorithms
- Prior experience in production machine learning deployment at scale
