About the Role: SpEd Substitute Teacher
As a Special Ed Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the opportunity to rekindle your passion for teaching while enjoying the support and compensation you deserve. Key Responsibilities:
- Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity and quality education for students.
- Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, adapting to the needs of special education students.
- Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing valuable feedback to teachers and staff.
- Exercise effective classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, promoting inclusive practices.
Essential Qualifications:
- Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s).
- Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if your license is expired).
- Three professional References, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
- Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with diverse needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive requirements.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies.
- Previous experience as a Special Education teacher or substitute, with a deep understanding of IEPs and Functional Behavior Assessments.
