As a Teaching Assistant MEC, you will play a vital role in supporting our students and teachers in achieving their goals. **Key Responsibilities** As a Teaching Assistant MEC, you will be responsible for providing instructional services to students with emotional and learning disabilities under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher. Your duties will include: * Supporting students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning * Implementing specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities * Collaborating with colleagues and assisting teachers to meet student learning needs * Communicating regularly and effectively with stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and other support staff * Assisting students with daily living skills, such as dressing, toileting, feeding, and other activities as applicable * Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and behavior * Attending staff meetings and trainings to stay current on best practices and policies * Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments **Essential Qualifications** To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: * A high school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., special education, psychology, or a related field) preferred * Experience working with students with emotional and learning disabilities, preferably in a school setting * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines * Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records * Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods, with frequent walking and bending **Preferred Qualifications** While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: * Certification in special education or a related field (e.g., special education teacher certification, behavior specialist certification) * Experience working with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities * Knowledge of behavior management strategies and techniques * Familiarity with inclusive education practices and culturally responsive teaching methods * Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and families from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds **Skills and Competencies** To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines * Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records * Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods, with frequent walking and bending * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions * Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on student-centered learning and support **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As a Teaching Assistant MEC, you will have opportunities to grow and develop your skills and knowledge in a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
