Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Team Read Teaching Assistant to support our Reading Specialists in delivering high-quality reading instruction to small groups of students. As a key member of our educational team, you will play a vital role in helping students develop a strong foundation in literacy skills, promoting a love of reading, and fostering a growth mindset in our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Works closely with Reading Specialists to deliver reading instruction to small groups of students, adapting and modifying instruction as needed to meet the diverse needs of our students.
- Assists students with independent assignments, enrichment work, and other activities as assigned by the teacher, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Observes student behavior and performance, providing valuable feedback to teachers to inform instruction and support student growth.
- Assists the substitute teacher in the absence of the regular teacher, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to student success.
- Participates in planning and preparation activities, including developing instructional strategies and materials, and attending workshops and conferences as needed.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- A current Professional Educator License with Stipulations (PARA) or a current Professional Educator License (PEL).
- Experience working with students in a reading support role, with a strong understanding of literacy development and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, parents, and district administrators.
- A commitment to maintaining a high level of ethical behavior, confidentiality, and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications would be highly desirable:
- A Master's degree in Education or a related field.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and best practices in reading education.
