About the Role: Technical Lead
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Lead to join our team in a remote, full-time capacity. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and leadership in the design, development, and deployment of software applications and systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and operations, to ensure the successful delivery of projects and initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and deployment
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members, including mentoring and coaching to help them grow in their roles
- Collaborate with architects to define the technical roadmap for products and services, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry trends
- Assess product requirements and propose solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders, while also ensuring technical feasibility and scalability
- Work closely with design teams to ensure that design decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs and are aligned with industry best practices
- Complete detailed documentation for technical plans, processes, and project decisions, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and up-to-date
- Build tools and examples to accelerate development and delivery, while also ensuring that all solutions are thoroughly tested and validated
- Research and implement new technologies and solutions to improve current processes, security, and performance, while also identifying opportunities for innovation and growth
- Create cross-departmental services and applications in collaboration with IT's central architecture team, ensuring that all solutions are integrated and aligned with business objectives
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) on products and services, providing guidance and support to team members and stakeholders as needed
- Evaluate technologies and tools, driving proof-of-concepts to demonstrate innovative ideas and promote good design practices
- Guide and mentor colleagues involved in engineering, design, development, assembly, deployment, and maintenance of systems, ensuring that all team members have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues, identifying and implementing solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders and ensure the smooth operation of systems and services
- Collaborate with production operations teams to ensure that deployments are successful and meet the needs of customers and stakeholders, while also ensuring that all solutions are thoroughly tested and validated
- Work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support the operation and ensure the success of projects and initiatives
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for software development and IT operations. The following qualifications are essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 4 years of experience in delivering SDLC solutions using ITIL/Agile/XP, or similar processes
- Strong knowledge and experience in Java SE, Java EE, or Spring, as well as object-oriented design principles and Java/Java EE design patterns
- Experience with social databases, microservices architecture, and JavaScript MVC frameworks, as well as diagnostics/testing tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, LISA, and Soap UI
- Strong understanding of PCI, SOX, PII, and security processes and standards, as well as experience with software configuration management/build processes
- Ability to document the current environment and develop the process and tasks to prepare for changes to the design, describing the technical capabilities, as well as the business capabilities involved
- Ability to create technical roadmaps and guide colleagues in the development, assembly, deployment, and maintenance of systems
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, as well as experience working with Agile techniques and tools
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and influence best practices, while also demonstrating drive, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing needs and workplaces
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred, but not essential:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 4+ years of experience delivering SDLC solutions using ITIL/Agile/XP, or similar processes
- 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership, including mentoring and coaching team members
- Airline industry experience, including Sabre, business cycles, and supporting technologies
- Experience with DevOps Toolchain strategies, including TDD (test-driven development), Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
- Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience with containerization using Docker, as well as orchestration using Kubernetes
